I did say I was going to upload sooome…

This is a cover up job I had to do within a day, from designing to inking the lines. He had an old Looney Tunes tattoo in there SOMEWHERE but now it is no more!

Has there been any time where a client was unable to get a tattoo where they wanted it?
It can happen! It’s not so much the entire area, but certain deep scars or fresh wounds that I want to avoid tattooing on. I’ll usually tell the client to wait a bit for the region to heal or just go around it. Not always the original idea, but we work with it.
I had a burn victim come to me and ask if I could tattoo a big region of their skin that was badly burned but completely healed. I told them the pigment wouldn’t stay in skin that had this particular texture. (as their dermatologist told them too)
So in those times I suggest a different area, or just a new tattoo design that wraps them differently. There’s always compromise!

How much do you take into account stuff like the clients body weight/ skin complexion when mocking up tattoos? I assume it has quite a bit of effect but I’d thought I’d ask.

I’ll take measurements and have my client inform me of whatever relevant information regarding their skin. Whether it’s about pigmentation, texture, scars, burns, stretch marks, moles, diabetes, sensitive rosacea, etc.

I can work with what I have and if I can’t I’ll work around it. As simple as that. It takes a lot of time and patience coming up with an initial idea, let alone designing a specific designed tailored to the client’s body shape and taste.

In the end a lot of people can get tattoos no matter whatever worry they have. I think it’s important to stay body positive when getting tattoos just as muchas in in your everyday life.

Just… come at me. I can do anything!! (almost…)

Sketches and tattoo mockups I draw for various clients.

I’ll post some inkwork soon!

Tribal Tattoo References

These dudes who want a top-arm to half-chest tribal design should really stop bringing the very VERY same photo reference everyone brings.

Included is the photo in question.
I’ve a bunch of clients who bring me this, detailling that they want a similar or the very same tattoo. I believe this photo is on some health blog about tattoos becoming the next hot thing so I think that might be a reason it comes up quickly in their search. I encourage you guys to make more research on references if you’d like a tribal design because goodness gosh there are just SO many styles out there!

Alright I’ma… start working on something!

HEY-YO! You gonna be in the LA/Long Beach area this Sunday/Monday? Maybe for Long Beach Comic Con? WANNA GET INKED?

The one and only P-RO is gonna be in for a rare appearance in the LA area. Check the works and send me an ask if you’re interested in getting some hot ink slung by her. Time on this is super limited so she may only be able to do a few interested parties. The illustrious coelasquid has already volunteered!

I’m the one with 24/7 tumblr access on my phone so I’m acting as a go-between here. When you send me an ask tell us what kind of piece you want: the content of it, the size, full color or no, etc. I’ll shoot you a message back with my phone number so we can set up the specifics!

This is for real, you west coasters!

Now to wait until the next session…

If everything goes smoothly with the client I should be inking this pile of wires tomorrow.

And now for colouring inside the lines…

Gimme an F! Gimme a FIGHT.

This is an all-around arm continuation of a football match between hell and earth. Needless to say I’m having fun with it!

Sometimes it gets technical.
Back at the Tattoo Art Show weeks ago, I had considered buying a new machine no matter how costly it was going to be. It’s just when you’re in front of the booth that you realize that +500$ worth of machinery is pretty expensive.
It is moments later that I really made my best decision and purchased a set of armature bar tuning tools so I could configurate my machines for them to run at optimal capacity.
I gotta say I’m really pleased. Best purchase!
